Rs.4.5 cr saving after STF probes

An amount of Rs.4.5 crore has accrued as savings to the state exchequer after the Special Task Force(STF)of the Vigilance & Anti Corruption Department, led by DIGP J.I.Yaden unearthed the VRS scam in some of the 28 Divisions under the PWD. According to a handout issued by the Department, the 36-member STF had scrutinized documents submitted by the VRS, W/C applicants discovered that some of the officers in the PWD divisions had arbitrarily appointed W/C employees despite a government ban issued on September 13,1994. The STF has submitted the names of the officers involved in the scam for both criminal and departmental action. FACT FILE 1.
