Conference on Catholic education held

The first conference on Catholic education in Nagaland was inaugurated by Bishop Jose Mukala December 5 at Bishop's House, Dimapur. Delivering key note address, Bishop said the need of the hour in education was the concerted effort of the Church in order to inculcate Christian values. He also said the identity of Catholic educational institution is to be discovered in the attitude formed in persons for the transformation of the society to be fit for a divine call. Rev Fr Solomon Vizo who presided over the programme, invited all to identify priorities of Saviour for the human formation of the individuals in the institutions. "The belief in God and life must form the basis of the method and purpose of education" he reminded. Sr Bhanshailang of Apostolic Carmel, Jakhamma called upon the teachers to make education a joyful experience for children. Sister Ishpriya from Sisters of Our Lady of Angels of Atoizu was of the view that there was urgency in imparting contextualized education. Fr Sunny Augustine SJ of Phesamma spoke of the need for skill development of the teacher. "The sentiments of appreciation and gratitude will be developed in relation to one's relationship with the pupils and the teachers," he assured. Other's who spoke at the conference included Sr Jilda Marbaniang of St Xavier College Jalukie, Fr Mathew SDB of Christ King Kohima, Sr Rose SCCG of Lazami, Sr Regina MSMHC of Padampukri, Sr Tessy SABS of St Paul Dimapur, Sr Tincy James SH of Holy Child Dimapur, Rev Dr Isaac of St Joseph College Jakhamma, Fr Kurien MSFS of Medzhiphema, Fr Michael SFX of Khonoma, Fr Mathias OFM of Lazami, Fr George CM of Dimapur, Fr Devaraj of Don Bosco Tseminyu, Sr Emilda MMS of Chumukedima, Sr Febronia B S of Holy Cross and Sr Chantal FCC of St Clare School Kacharigaon.
