New route to Mt. Saramati discovered

Another reason for trekkers to rejoice. In a significant development a new route to Mt. Saramati - the highest peak in Nagaland, situated at an altitude of 3,841 meters above the sea level - was discovered by MELOMIKA range pastors while trekking from Khongjire village under Kiphire district from November 8 to 13. MILOMIKA range which comprises of more than eight villages including Moya Likimro, Longkhimvong, Khongjiri, Lophukhong, Mimi, Khonka, Hakumuti, Mutenkhong successfully discovered the new route, which took them at least two days from Khonjiri. Briefing this correspondent on the new discovery, a sixteen member team lead by MILOMIKA range pastors have called upon the people to focus on this tourist destination in such a way that people of the state get benefited. The members also urged if the state government and tourism department, for the common cause of the people, could initiate development in a proper way as soon as possible. It may be worth noting that the peak is one of the highest among non Himalayan Mountains in India. The peak remains snow capped throughout the winter and gradually it melts and flows in to Likimro river.
