All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) has decided to go for step-wise agitation in protest against the alleged failure of the State Government to address “grievances” contained in its charter of demand, earlier submitted to the government. ANEFWA in an ultimatum to the commissioner and secretary (Power) signed by its president Rendimeren and general secretary Z Hetoi Assumi, informed that the association in its general meeting held on December 5 last, unanimously resolved to resort to step-wise agitation anytime after December 9, till its charter of demand was fully met with. The demands of ANEFWA include 80% regularization of work-charged technical employees of Power department as assured by the government during the year 2000, or conversion of the work-charged technical employees to operation maintenance staffs, and creation of different category of posts. The association also demanded payment of “just” ex-gratia to injured and nominee of the deceased in case of injuries sustained or death of field staff, besides provisions of allowances to the members of the association as provided to other Essential departments. Further, ANEFWA demanded promotion of technical staff to class-II on the basis of seniority.
