8 selected for NCSC

State level Children's Science Congress was held December 9 at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School (LFHSS), Dimapur under the theme "Planet Earth - Our Home Explore, Share Care", organised by Nagaland Institute Health Environment and Social Welfare, Kohima with Sr. Gr. specialist youth resource department, Dr. Hoito Sema as chief guest. Speaking at the inaugural function, chief guest stressed on the importance of science while urged the children to take up science as a career. Lamenting on low budget for science activities in comparison to budget of other activities in the country, Dr. Sema urged government to extend more importance to "popularisation of science programmes." ATI, Kohima, associate professor, Hovithal, chief evaluator of the programme also encouraged the children to be more courageous while presenting their projects. Altogether eight children, including Priyanka Mukherjee, Dimapur; Kedirang Pame, Peren; Chenithung, Wokha; Thungchobeni, Wokha; Alokivili, Dimapur; E. Edeth Maria, Dimapur; Meyielemla, Dimapur and Zepre, Phek were selected as per quota to represent the state to the 16th National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) to be held for the first time in Nagaland at LFHSS and Delhi Public School, Dimapur from December 27 to 31. The programme was chaired by NCSC state coordinator, Andrew Ahoto Sema.
