State additional chief secretary and development commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir Thursday said youths should be prepared to study every form of music as he felt that music has the strength to bring peace and harmony in a society.
Speaking as chief guest during the Ao contemporary musical evening at Imliyanger Memorial Centre (IMC), Dimapur, organized by Akhoya Students' Union Dimapur (ASUD) development commissioner was of the view that music elevated the soul and could change many philosophies and human mindset.
Lamenting that attitude of Naga youths were becoming worst due to "MTV Culture" where way of thinking and dressing had completely changed, Jamir called upon youths to understand the rich folk music spread by forefathers to children through folk songs.
Terming that music was a history but part of life among Aos, Alemtemshi urged the union to continue organizing the same kind of musical concerts as it could bring revival to Ao traditions and culture.
Later he crooned a number of his own popular Ao song much to the delight of those present at the concert comprising both young and old.
Former Deputy Chief Minister, R.C Chiten also spoke at the concert.
Earlier, invocation was proposed by I. Toshi Longkumer, youth director, DABA, the union president, Chuba Longkumer welcomed the audience.
