Information centre of Dimapur Motor Workers' Trade Union (DMWTU) at Burma Camp Dimapur was inaugurated by Assistant Labour Commissioner Haizing Zeliang Thursday. Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, Haizing said the union had been rendering commendable service to the transporters at times of accidents or other difficult times. Ghokiye Sema, president DLTWU president highlighted the problems of transporters along the highway-39 and urged the department to extend support to trade union. Union coordination committee chairman Nitoyi Sema, said harassment and tax collection from transporters were responsible for the rise in price of commodities. The union information centre was opened on NH-39 in Burma Camp as the areas had been witnessing extortions, kidnapping and harassment of transporters coming from outside. Union coordination committee secretary Wati Ao said, proposal to government for setting up driving training institute in the district was being prepared by the union. The function was chaired by DMWTU president Ghoshito Sema.
