KVK conducts trg for fish farmers at Aboi

A three day training programme on 'intensive aquaculture in ponds and tanks' for fish farmers organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), at Aboi, Mon concluded November 20. D.K Chetri, SDAO Aboi and programme co-ordinator in his keynote address impressed upon the farmers to take up fish farming as the district had tremendous potential with plenty of natural water resources including perennial water bodies and rivers. He said fish farming was one area where rural employment could be generated by improving the economy of the villages. Additional deputy commissioner Aboi K.S Anden who graced the occasion as chief guest said that farmers of the area had extra advantage as Farm Science centre was at their doorstep. He also lauded the Scientist of KVK, Mon for their service and expressed his confidence that by observing the activities of the institute it would certainly bear fruits by uplifting the rural Agro based economy. Representatives of Konyak union and KNSK (Konyak Mothers association) also attended the inaugural session. Altogether 25 farmers from Aboi town and surrounding villages were given intensive training consisting of theory and practical exercises including demonstrations on ascientific method of fish farming with the help of Yehoto, Ext.(FFDA) officer, department of fishery, Dimapur. Vote of thanks on the concluding day was pronounced by Programme in charge, Dr. Paihem Michui,SMS (Vety & A.H). The training was sponsored by National Fishery Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad.
