Injured python recuperating in zoo

A seriously injured 15 feet long python weighing 29 Kg was successfully operated upon and medically treated by a team of veterinary doctors of veterinary hospital, Dimapur on November 21. In a surgical operation done on a python for the first time in the state lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes for fractured cervical vertebrae. The operation was conducted by deputy director veterinary hospital Dimapur Dr. L. G. Zhimomi, and assisted by veterinary assistant surgeon Dr. Asenuo Linyu, with wildlife staff of Nagaland Zoological Park. According to officer in charge of Nagaland Zoological Park, Obed Bohovi Swu the python is presently recuperating at rescue centre at Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar under supervision. Meanwhile, the forest department has expressed gratitude to veterinary department, doctors and staff of veterinary hospital Dimapur for their selfless and valuable service assisting the department in protecting and saving the state's wildlife resources.
