It’s now official. The Hornbill National Rock contest will truly be a national event with 22 bands from ten states and one union territory vying for the Airtel Hornbill National Rock 2008 starting December 4 to 7 at local ground, Kohima.
The Hornbill Music Festival is an integral event of the Hornbill Festival 2008 featuring evening entertainment programme at Kohima from December 1 to 7, organised by the Music Task Force (YRS), Nagaland. The production and events are managed by XL.
On December 1 at 5 pm, vice president of India, Dr. Hamid Ansari will formally declare the Hornbill Music Festival open.
Renowned Indian band Parikrama will perform on December 6.
Meanwhile, on December 1 and 3, entry would be free, while shows starting December 4 to 7 would be based on ticket system, fixed at Rs. 30 for gallery, daily patron fixed Rs. 300 (admit two) and seasoned ticket fixed at Rs.1000 (admit two). Further details will be informed soon through media.
Altogether 17 bands from outside the state have been selected, while 5 are from Nagaland. They are: Eximious-Kohima (Nagaland), EOE- Kohima (Nagaland), OFF- Kohima (Nagaland), Melodrama-Dimapur (Nagaland), Dementia –Dimapur(Nagaland), Scribe – Mumbai (Maharashtra), Medusa -Mumbai (Maharashtra), 24 X 7 - Pune (Maharashtra), Third Eye- Darjeeling (West Bengal), Nitric Dreams- Kolkata (West Bengal), Kaivalyaa -Kolkata (West Bengal), 1833 AD- New Delhi (Delhi), Hypnosis- New Delhi (Delhi), Dark Horizon- Haflong (Assam), Digital Suicide -Guwahati (Assam), Northwind- Tura (Meghalaya), Allatus- Meghalaya, Angelica- Imphal (Manipur), Abattoir –Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Monopoly Syndrome- Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Arms of Silence -Aizawl (Mizoram) and Pintight from Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).
The prize money for the event is 5 lacs for 1st prize, 1.5 acs and 1 lac for 2nd and 3rd prize respectively and individual prize of Rs 25, 000 for best vocalist, best guitarist, best drummer and best bassist .
