The inaugural programme of a two-day platinum jubilee of Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (LTM) was held Monday at Chuchuyimlang Town under Mokokchung. The inaugural session was graced by L. Temjen Jamir, Advisor for Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) as guest of honour.
Speaking during the occasion, Temjen said due to immense love of God for Langpangkong people, five pioneers of LTM were bestowed with wisdom to lead the range people with peace, unity and development. Stressing on the road as life-line for the people, he said even pioneers of LTM emphasized on construction of road for development. In this regard, guest of honour said the same road had today been constructed as NH 61 connecting four districts in the state and even connecting to state capital.
While narrating the meaning of 'jubilee' from biblical perspective as celebration of forgiveness, peace and liberation, Temjen also pointed out that origin of jubilee was neither through the dynamic kings nor philosophers of different eras but as gracious provision of God to mankind to observe the celebration of peace and liberation.
NBDA Advisor questioned the gathering whether they were observing the jubilee with a meaning and purpose or just a mere celebration as an obligation. In this regard, he urged the Langpangkong people to observe the jubilee with the purpose to forgive, if any, to other neighbouring ranges or even between villages within Langpangkong range. This way, according to Temjen, the celebration will be meaningful otherwise they will not be doing the will of God and the celebration meaningless.
Main speaker of the session, Imkonglemba IAS, Secretary and Commissioner dwelled on the history of Langpangkong range in the past 75 years and pointed out the merits and demerits of the people by citing various instances. He exhorted the leaders in various streams to come together and march forward towards better unity and development of the area.
Others who spoke during the function included Marbenba GB of Yaongyimsen and Chungpolemba of Yaongyimti Old.
The function also included invocation by Rev Y. Alem, ABAM Impur, welcome speech by I. Akang, Vice Chairman, Adhoc Town Committee, Chuchuyimlang Town, silent prayer in remembrance of the late five pioneers and other LTM leaders, cultural song by Unger Village Council members, special song by jubilee choir and the function was chaired by the office bearers of LTM.
