Chairman for NIDC and NHL and DPDB Mokokchung, MLA Nuklutoshi Longkumer blamed the people for the "sick practices" during election that brought disunity and hatred among people. He pointed out that efforts of few leaders from Langpangkong to bring unity and development in the range by promotional works like construction of Langpangkong road (now NH 61) and formation of Langpangkong Tsukong Mungdang (LTM) has been shattered by ill practices of the range people during elections. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating LTM 'nungshi-long' at Changtongya village Monday. He said people should practice democratic form of election like that of America, where people fairly elect their leader without any hindrance. He exhorted the gathering to practice fair and free election to bring peace and development in Langpangkong range under Mokokchung. While narrating the chronology of Langpangkong people in brief, Nuklutoshi said the contemporary Langpangkong people have relapsed to that of earlier times. He assured to extend possible help and support from LADP and district planning funds to Changtongya Students' Union in maintaining the area where 'nungshi-long' was erected to develop into park in near future. President of LTM, O. Shilu Jamir while speaking at the function earlier also narrated how pioneers of LTM had to face difficult times due to various reasons to bring unity and peace among the villages under Langpangkong range that lied between Dikhu and Milak rivers. He emphasized on importance to remember visionary motives of LTM pioneers. Chairman of Changtongya Village Council (CVC), Sama Jamir who also spoke at the function highlighted on peculiarity of Langpangkong range from other ranges under Mokokchung and disclosed the willingness of CVC to donate sufficient land should the LTM give importance to promote the area into a park. He also appreciated MLA for providing various funds for development though Changtongya people did not vote for him. The function also included vote of thanks by Sendong, convener of jubilee monument committee who also chaired over the function and closing prayer by Supongmatong, treasurer of LTM. Other dignitaries who attended the function included Meren Paul, commissioner for transport.
