To uphold peace in the village a peace accord stone between Sendenyu and Phenshunyu village under Tseminyu sub-division, Kohima district was dedicated Monday at Old Bokajan Box cutting (Parashen)
A 'Peace Stone' was unveiled marking the occasion, where executive secretary, Council of Rengma Baptist Churches(CRBC) Zunhpha Tseminyu Rev. Tenga Seb dedicated the 'Peace Stone' and prayed with church leaders, settlement committee and declared the decision by pledging to uphold peace by village authorities.
"Today will be landmark in the history of the Rengma" said Dr. PS Lorin, in his welcome address, adding "peace is God's gift and people should honour it. War, hostility, violence, hatred and all other vices are conquered by peace and good will. In firm, belief and faith in the good will of humanity, this day is set aside for the peace accord to be honoured by one and all henceforth".
Shewenlo Keppen highlighting on the first recorded judgment that was passed in the year 1921, said it took almost 88 years for Sendenyu and Phenshunyu village to dedicate peace accord stone that finally took place on Monday.
Short speeches were delivered by President, Sendenyu Tegwenkinyu Union, President PKR Nezen, President CRBC, representatives of Sendenyu and Phenshunyu. The occasion was attended by parliamentary secretary, R. Khing, Commissioner, HK Khulu IAS and Kewwanye Lorin President Rengma Hoho.
Earlier the function was chaired by Dr. S .Kemp, invocation payer was pronounced by Rev. Methalo Mesen, bible reading by Rev Dr, Chen Rengma, special songs were presented by Sendenyu BYE, Khenyu BYE, New Sendenyu, while the vote of thanks was proposed by N Thong and benediction pronounced by Rev. M K Lorin.
