Altogether 11,140 vaccinators and 557 supervisors have been readied to administer polio drops to an estimated 2, 78000 eligible children (0-5) years in the state from January 11. This would be the first round of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) for the year 2009 and a total of 2,784 IPPI booths have been set up for the purpose. An official bulletin informed that the joint director, (IEC) R.R. Chasie through a press release has expressed gratitude to all sections of the people and all agencies for their co-operation in the past and requested them to once again come forward to ensure that all eligible children receive the “two drops of life”. The joint director said that the state had not detected even a single case of polio since 1997 and attributed it to the active participation of all concerned. People have been asked to contact their nearest Health Center or the Chief Medical Officer/District Immunization Officer of their respective districts for further information and clarification.
