MLA Y. Hewoto Awomi Tuesday urged the students of Niuland Area to judiciously manage time, promote healthy competitions, inculcate good virtues which were essential qualities and key to achieving success in one's life.
"Students are wealth of the society but only if they become good and responsible citizens not forgetting to respect the elders and teachers". The MLA was addressing the second day programme of 16th general conference of Niuland Area Students' Union (NASU)as chief guest.. Dwelling on the conference theme, 'to foster competitive spirit', Awomi called upon the participating students of various competitions to focus in performing better instead of performing for namesake.
The MLA donated a sum of Rs. 1.5 lacs to NASU, Rs 1.00 lac to the host village Hezheto and Rs. 5,000 to cultural dance group. He also awarded cash prize of Rs 5,000 to the best march pass contingent, Rs 3,000 to second and Rs 2,000 each to all the participating units.
A total 17 Students' Unions are participating in the ongoing students' conference at Hezheto village. Earlier, students from Yeveto village presented cultural dance and the host villagers presented folk song.
The function was chaired by ex-President, NASU Hekiye Awomi, while vote of thanks was delivered by Isak Zhimomi. Pastor Hetoi Baptist Church Pihoto, pronounced the benediction.
