The much needed clean and hygienic fish market with 67 stalls was inaugurated at new market Dimapur Wednesday.
Dimapur Municipal Council chairperson Khekaho Assumi along with DMC members formally inaugurated the fish market and inspected the complex.
Constructed at a cost of rupees 53, 70. 000, this modern fish market would benefit the local fishermen to sell their products at separate enclosures at an elevated place and also help the customers to purchase their favourite fish with ease.
Unveiling the monolith, DMC chairperson said the construction of fish market was made possible due to team effort and contribution by well wishers.
According to Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) engineer in- charge of market construction, the construction of fish market complex started way back in September and reconstructed on August 2004 and till date, DMC had received 33,50.000 from the allotters. Earlier, the inaugural function chaired by DMC member Thungchanthung Lotha was attended by DMC members, Kuhoi, Atomu wotsa, H. Thong, N.K Rongmei, Nekha, Yanger Imchen, deputy chairperson D.P Angami and Yanger Toshi.
