Karoly Balszay of Hungary won a unanimous decision over Russia’s Denis Inkin to win the WBO Super Middleweight Championship on Saturday. Balszay improved to 20-0 with 14 knockouts, beating Inkin (34-1 24 KOs) in his first title defence. The judges scored the fight 115-113, 116-112, 116-112 in favor of the 29-year-old Hungarian. Balszay was more aggressive throughout the match, but sealed his victory toward the end of the 10th round, when he landed a left hook to the 31-year-old Inkin’s head. “I thought he was very tough guy,” Balszay said after the fight. “But our preparation was perfect.” In an earlier fight, fellow Hungarian Zsolt Erdei won a unanimous decision over Russia’s Yuri Barashian. The 34-year-old Erdei, the unbeaten WBO light heavyweight champion, improved to 30-0 and dropped Barashian to 25-5.
