CM to grace dobashis’ conference DIMAPUR: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio would formally inaugurate the general conference of Dobashis association under the motto 'Backbone of Administration' as the chief guest at Phek town on January 21. According to an official bulletin, the two day conference under the theme 'Custom for Justice' would also be graced by minister for health & family welfare, Kuzholuzo as the guest of honour, commissioner Nagaland, H.K. Khulu, IAS and deputy commissioner, Phek Z. Thele respectively as the main speakers in the function. Adoption of resolution, presentation of reports, exhortation, cultural voices, traditional songs, cultural dances, election of new office bearers would be the main highlights of the programme. Alemtemshi to inaug new building DIMAPUR: Additional chief secretary, development commissioner and agricultural production commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir would officially inaugurate newly constructed building for 'senior citizens room' donated and constructed by VDB Ungma village with active support from DC Mokokchung, Bendangkokba and SBI Mokokchung branch and SBI main branch on January 14, 2 p.m. PSC, MSTK felicitates DIMAPUR: The Phom Students' Conference (PSC) has feted Dr. I. Anungla, daughter of Imdong Phom of Kangching village, on being conferred Ph.D (English). According to a press release issued by PSC publicity and information secretary, E. Ongshau Lakpan, Anungla is first among the Phoms in secular studies which has set an example to young aspirants at the same time wished her success in her future endeavours. Meanwhile, in a separate release, the Merangkong Senso Telongjem Kohima (MSTK) has also felicitated Dr. I. Anungla, daughter of Imdong Phom of Kangching village, on being conferred Ph.D (English). The telongjem in a congratulatory note issued by its general secretary, I. Moa Lemtur, wished her success in her future endeavours. SVSU Phek annual session KOHIMA: Sümi Village Students Union (SVSU), Phek would hold its 38th annual session January 17 with DMC chairperson, K. Khekaho Assumi as chief guest. The union has informed all union office bearers, senior students residing outside the village to attend the session. SBA grateful DIMAPUR: The Sumi Baptist Akukuhou (SBA), Diphupar 'B' has extended gratitude to individuals, communities and societies who have contributed towards the successful conduct of 62nd WSBAK youth conference. The chairman of the youth conference, Dr. L. Shikikhe Sumi, in a press release has especially thanked Kaito Ayemi, minister, for road and bridges, Doshihe Yeptho, minister for power, Khekiho Zhimomi, MP, Khetovi Assumi, chief engineer, PHED, SP Dimapur, OC fire services, Dimapur, Kakiho Achumi, chairman, Diphupar 'B' village, Dr. Sukhato, MS, civil hospital, Dimapur, SBC, Sovima, and Ikeshe village 'B/C'. CSD appeal civic bodies DIMAPUR: The Consumer Society Dimapur (CSD) has appealed the rate control board of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) and Purana Bazaar Adhoc Committee to verify and revised the rate of pork and other meat items in Dimapur. According to a press release issued by the society's president, Vinito Chophi, the butchers are selling pork at the rate of Rs.100 to Rs.120 per kg to the consumers whereas the actual rate is Rs.90 per kg while the whole sale rate is Rs.78 per kg for which the society has asked the general consumers not to buy above the rates fixed by the DMC and other civic bodies. The release also said that if any butchers found selling the meat above the rates fixed by the competent authorities, the consumers have every 'right' to approach the consumer court by filing a case. 1st coordination meet held DIMAPUR: The first coordination meeting, after the inauguration of ADC office at Medziphema was held January 13 at ADC office with heads of offices in the subdivision attending the meet. According to an official bulletin the meeting was convened to let the officers of different departments get to know each other so as to work in better co-ordination. Some of the officers shared their difficulties for which the ADC assured help in every possible way. IMFL seized DIMAPUR: The district excise enforcement personnel during its surprise checking of hotels and restaurants located at Hussein Road and Rail Gate area, Dimapur, seized 204 bottles of IMFL. According to a press release issued by the superintendent of excise and prohibition, Dimapur, Pitongse Sangtam, 13 persons were arrested and penalized as per the relevant sections of NLTP Act'89. The release further stated that Chumukedima excise check gate duty party has also seized 180 bottles of IMFL from different vehicles during their term of duty last week and arrested five persons who were also booked under the same Act. DC Phek plea to officers to be sincere DIMAPUR: Monthly meeting of Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held on January 11 with DPDB vice chairman and DC Phek, Zachive Thele chairing the meet. According to an official bulletin, the meet DC during the meet reminded the officers that they were working for the people in the state, having better knowledge about the conditions and need of the people and appealed to all officers of the district to be sincere and attentive as ever with greater zeal in respective fields for better result and speedy implementation of government programmes in the district. The deputy commissioner further requested all district heads of offices to get ready with their respective department activities for presentation in the next DPDB meeting. Reviewing the last meeting minutes the activities of the soil and water conservation department was presented by DSCO Phek, Viliehu Nguzhu. DYE meet DIMAPUR: An emergency meeting of Dimapur Yanpha Ekhung (DYE) has been convened on January 17 at 10 am at the residence of Zubemo Ovung, Kyong Colony, Dimapur, for which all its members have been requested to attend the meeting. KPC meet DIMAPUR: Kohima Press Club (KPC) has convened an executive meeting January 14, 1 p.m. at KPC building to chalk out programme for the forthcoming KPC foundation, which falls January 20. All the KPC office bearers and advisors have been requested to attend the meeting. NCEs interview DIMAPUR: Office of 14 NAP (IR) Bn. Commandant has informed that it has started receiving applications for Non-Combat Employees (NCWs) and that last date for receiving applications has been set January 19. Commandant 14 NAP (IR) Bn. In a release said the interview for eligible candidates would be conducted January 28, 10 a.m. onwards at office complex, Chumukedima. JVSA golden jubilee KOHIMA: Jakhama Village Sports Association (JVSA) would celebrate its golden jubilee from January 13 to 15 at Jakhama village ground. The inaugural function January 13 would be graced by minister for health and family welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu as chief guest while chief engineer, national highway, Er. Dr. Vikuotuolie Angami as guest of honour for the closing function. PDSA meet KOHIMA: The 29th meet of Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) would be held from February 5 to 14 at Kikrüma village with minister for health and family welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu as chief guest. Electoral rolls DIMAPUR: The deputy commissioners of Dimapur and Phek, who are also the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), have notified the public that list of amendments to the draft rolls for the assembly constituencies have been prepared in accordance with the registration of Electoral Rules, 1960 with the qualifying date as January 1, for which a copy of the said rolls together with the list of amendments have been published and would be available for inspection at their respective offices. According to a press communiqué, the constituencies in includes Dimapur-I, Dimapur-II, Dimapur-III, Ghaspani-I and Ghaspani-II, while for Phek, constituencies includes Pfutsero, Chizami, Chozuba, Phek and Meluri.
