Andy Murray wins player of the year

Andy Murray was named Male Player of the Year at the British Tennis Player Awards after a wonderful breakthrough year. In a ceremony held at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, Anne Keothavong won the Female Player of the Year award, while Peter Norfolk was presented with the inaugural Outstanding Achievement Award. Murray won the award after picking up five ATP titles including back-to-back Masters victories, as well as rising to number four in the world after he was runner-up at the US Open. Keothavong also took a steep rise in the rankings - to a career high of 61, and she won four titles as well as reaching the US Open third round. Dan Evans won Male Junior Player of the Year, Wimbledon heroine Laura Robson was named Female Junior Player of the Year, Sue Hill won Veteran Player of the Year and the 14-and-under girls won Team of the Year.
