Speaking at the Prabhu Yeshu Janmotsav (celebration of the birthday of Jesus Christ) at Girgaum Chopatty in Mumbai on Sunday last, Governor of Maharashtra S.C.Jamir said "Christmas means love, forgiveness, reconciliation and peace". It means crowning of Jesus Christ in one's heart, he added. Stating that Jesus showed forgiveness towards even those who tried to kill him, Jamir asserted that the message of peace given by Jesus Christ was ever new, real and sorely needed by today's world torn by violence. He said, Jesus - the Savior - was born to bring peace on earth, to spread the good will among people and to bring glory to God in the highest. The programme which was held against the backdrop of the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, saw a simple celebration being organized by the Bishop's Fellowship and the Prabhu Yeshu Janmotsav Committee. Archbishop of Mumbai Cardinal Oswald Gracias, US Consul in Mumbai Glenn, Chairman of the Yeshu Janmotsav Committee Dr Abraham Mathai, general secretary, Dr Victor Gollapalli, Gul Kripalani and other eminent people were present on the occasion.
