State youth fest begins at Kma

: A two- day 10th State level youth festival 2008 began here at IG stadium, Kohima on Tuesday. All 11 districts are taking part in the two-day state level youth festival, which is being organized by department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) Inaugurating the festival as chief guest, Kohima Municipal Council chairman Vipopal Kintso said youth have a vital role to play in shaping and molding the society, adding "youth are our future and the future belong to youth" Stating that we need to have dream and goal to achieve, Kinsto said that to achieve dream and goal there should be a "willpower ", where main components included three D's - determination, dedication and discipline playing the crucial role. Chief guest was accompanied by, deputy chairperson, KMC Khriehu Liezietsu and councilor KMC Neiphrielie Rutsa. In his keynote address, assistant director, YR and S K. Sanchu said youth festival was celebrated throughout the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Winners of the state level festival would represent the state at 13th National Youth Festival to be held from January 12 to 16, 2009 at Amistrar , Punjab. He informed that the state will participate in only four items- folk song, folk dance, elocution and guitar recital. The function was presided over by Kenneth Punyü State Liaison Officer, NSS. Panel of judges for the competition were Kughazhe, assistant director art and culture, Arupe Zeliang, joint director YRS and Shihokhe Sumi, deputy director YRS. The closing function would be held on December 17 at 3. pm with chief guest Beiu Angami, director YRS.
