State level ‘Youth Festival 2008’ culminates

A two-day '10th State level Youth festival 2008' organized by department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) culminated here at IG stadium, Kohima Tuesday. All 11 districts participated in four different events competitions including folk dance, folk song, elocution and guitar recital. The closing function was graced by YRS director, Beiu Angami wherein he also gave away the prizes. In the Indian Classical dance category, the only performer was Pangmai Konyak (Mon). She was awarded Rs.1000 and a certificate. The first place winners of the state level festival would represent the state at the 13th National Youth Festival to be held from January 12 to 16, 2009 at Amistrar, Punjab. The function was chaired by NSS state liaison officer, Kenneth Punyü, while vote of thanks was delivered by YRS deputy director, Shihokhe Sumi while YRS joint director, Arupe Zeliang officially declared closed state level youth festival. Results of various categories include elocution competition won by Dijamlaun Kamson (Dimapur) Rs.3000 and a certificate; Nekme (Mokokchung) Rs.2000 and a certificate; Mesepe-ii (Phek) Rs.1000 and a certificate. Guitar recital round by Mannen Ao (Kohima) Rs.3000 and a certificate; David (Kiphire ) Rs.2000 and a certificate; Mhanyamo (Wokha) Rs.1000 and a certificate. In the folk song categoru Mon bagged the first prize of Rs.10000 and a certificate, Phek -Rs. 5000 and a certificate; Longleng Rs.3000 and a certificate. and in folk dance Zunheboto emerged as the winner with Rs.20000 and a certificate; Dimapur -Rs .10000 and a certificate; Mokokchung Rs.5000 and a certificate.
