Career guidance seminar in W’ka

A career guidance programme, organized by the department of Youth Resources and Sports, was conducted for educated youths here at LTC Hall, Wokha Friday. Resource persons for the career guidance programme included Lotsu EAC K. Mhathung Tsanglao, Fazl Ali College lecturer Phyoben Odyuo and Genpact India assistant manager Yentsao Lotha. Giving his counsel on career in the civil services, K. Mhathung Tsanglao explained in detail what the civil services were all about and enlightened the guidance-seekers on the challenges and opportunities involved in their pursuit for a career in the civil services. He also shared his personal experiences on sitting for the competitive exams. Phyoben Odyuo who counseled on career in the higher academics urged the gathering to opt for need-based innovative programmes rather than the traditional streams as opportunities in the job markets depend on specializations in particular areas. Giving his counsel on career in outsourcing and in private companies, Yentsao Lotha enlightened the gathering on what the BPO or the outsourcing industry was all about and the concept of cost effective, faster and better services which drive the industry. He also touched upon the benefits, individual growth and required expertise in order to enter and thrive in the private industries. Earlier, the introduction and welcome address was delivered by Wokha Youth Resources Officer Libemo Jami who also chaired the programme. Wokha District Sports Officer N. M. Yanthan proposed the vote of thanks.
