DGM held for attempted bribe

A Deputy General Manager of the National Building Construction Company, involved in road construction projects in the region, was arrested of charges of attempting to bribe a CBI officer of Guwahati branch with Rs. 5 lakhs, Saturday. According to a PIB release, the accused B. C. Dhiman, Deputy General Manager (Civil), NBCC Limited, New Delhi has been charged under section 12 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.The cash amounting to Rs.5 lakhs, which was being paid as bribe was also recovered from the spot in presence of independent witnesses. The CBI, Guwahati branch was carrying out a Joint Surprise Check on the roads constructed by the NBCC Limited in Guwahati city from 2002 to 2009, when B.C. Dhiman was Deputy Project Manager, NBCC. The surprise check was completed Friday and a number of anomalies were detected.
