Kendriya Vidyalaya annual sports day Brigadier Balraj Singh giving away the prize. Dimapur, Jan 25 (NPN): Kendriya Vidyalaya project sewak celebrated annual sports day 2008-09 on Saturday at Vidyalaya play ground, Dimapur. According to principal Kendriya Vidalaya project sewak, the event was graced by the chairman, VMC, KV Dimapur Brigadier Balraj singh, CE (P) Sewak and nominee chairman, VMC Lt. Col. D. K. Yadav, HQ CE (P) Sewak, Dimapur. The winners of different sports events organised in December, 2008 were awarded with prizes and certificates. Ten National Level participants were also felicitated by the chief guest Brigadier Balraj Singh. Brigadier Singh in his speech stressed upon the importance of games and sports in the academics. He also cited the quotation: ‘Sound mind in the sound body’. Vote of thanks was proposed by P. K.Sah, senior teacher of the Vidyalaya. PDSA 29th sports meet at Kikruma Kohima, Jan 25 (NPN): Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) is all set to hold its 29th sports meet from February 4 at Kikruma village. The 29th sports meet will be hosted by Chokri Area Youth Sports Association. Minister for health & family welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will grace the inaugural function as the chief guest while Salie Khesoh, secretary, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) will be the guest of honour at the closing function on February 14. Meanwhile, PDSA is also introducing a women football discipline from this year’s meet. Northern Sumi GBs volleyball trophy Dimapur, Jan 25 (NPN): A week long, 16th session of Northern Sumi GBs volleyball trophy concluded Sunday at Akuhaiqa village with V. Hezhekhu Chophi, GB president of Northern Sumi Union Dimapur as chief guest. In the tournament, Athizau village emerged as the champion, 2nd runners-up and 3rd runners-up went to Athupu and Shihaphu village respectively.
