Pukhato, Xelhoje emerge champions in VMT trophy

25th (Silver Jubilee) edition of Vihokhu Memorial Trophy (football and volleyball) organized by Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association (KGSA) at Kuhuboto town was successfully concluded on Saturday with Pukhato and Xelhoje village emerged as the winners in the football and volleyball championship titles respectively. Khughovi village finished second in both football and volleyball while Ghokito village was third place finisher in football. Kuhuboto town team bagged the Best Disciplined team of the tournament. Best Player of football award was baged by Hekato of champion team and Best Player of volleyball award was claimed by Pito of Nijevi village. Anato of Ghokito village was the Highest Scorer of the tournament, while Mughato of Khughovi village was also awarded for his hattrick. In football, the winner received Rs. 25,000, second place – Rs. 18,000 and third place – Rs. 12,000. In volleyball, the winner got Rs. 18,000 and second place got Rs. 12,000. According to a press statement by general secretary KGSA, Iheto Yepthomi the guest of honour Azheto Chophy, Kilo Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN who graced the closing ceremony as chief guest urged the sportspersons to be serious and sincere in order to excel in sports. He also reminded the players to give equal importance to their academic and gave away the prizes and certificates. The guest of honour was accompanied by Alezo Venuh, Kilonser, MIP, Maj. Retd. R. M. Lotha, Kilonser, NSW, Kiyekhu Awomi, Deputy Kilonser, Defence, Akato Chophi, Deputy Kilonser, Defence, Tokiho Aye, RAO, Viniho Kiho, Tatar, Bohoto Kiba, Secy.-in-Chief, Visheto Yephto, Home Secy. and host of secretaries. Short speech was also delivered by Hojei Swu, Deputy Kilonser, FENR. Atomu Wotsa, member DMC also donated Rs. 50,000 for cash prizes in football. Tokuho Suhoi Neho, Head GB, Suhoi village donated Rs. 25,000 for cash prizes in volleyball. Earlier, the function was chaired by P. Kiyekhu Yepthomi, secretary, Jubilee Board and Kaiho Chophi, pastor, Kuhuboto Town Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing while welcome address was delivered by Tokuho Suhoi Neho, Convener, Planning Committee followed by choreography Lotovi village youth. The vote of thanks was proposed by K. Kakiye Zhimomi, Convener, Jubilee Board where he thanked the donors and well-wishers for their contribution in cash and kind in making the trophy a success. He also thanked Dr. Aintoli MO Kuhuboto and staff, Vikishe Sema, SDO (Civil) Kuhuboto and staff, Headmistress, GHS Kuhuboto and staff and BDO Katoni for their financial contribution towards the celebration of silver jubilee. The programme concluded with a benediction prayer by Kashito Yepthomi, Pastor, Ghokito Baptist Church.
