A pall of gloom has descended over the sleepy Tezpur town of Assam as it awaits the arrival of bodies of a newly married couple killed by Talibans near Majar-E-Sharif in Afghanistan on the January 23. According to family members, Abu Naser and his wife were killed on January 23 night when they were sleeping inside the Majar E Sharif University's guest house. Mehjabin Akhtar, Naser's sister said information trickling in from Afghanistan suggested that Talibans killed the couple along with six others by using poisonous gas. Naser was teaching English in the University and was married in November last. The 37-year old teacher was a brilliant student and had worked in several universities before migrating to Afghanistan to work in the war-ravaged country. "But Talibans viewed them as threat and used poisonous gas to kill them. As far as my information goes they did it by using the heating system of the house," said Mehjabin. The family is now waiting anxiously for the bodies to arrive from New Delhi.
