Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou laid to rest

Late Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou, who passed away on January 30 at the Naga Hospital Kohima, was laid to rest at the family residence premises Kohima after the funeral service held at the Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church, Kohima here Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of people from all walks of life including state chief minister Neiphiu Rio and other cabinet colleagues attended the funeral service to mourn the demise of Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou. State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, in his speech, recalled the tremendous contributions made by late Rev. Dr. Üsou for the Church ministry, education and promotion of music in the state. He said late Rev. Dr. Üsou had great concern for the uplift of Naga society and worked tirelessly to bring peace and harmony in the state through Christian healing and forgiveness. In his demise, Naga society has lost an inspirational church leader who had sacrificed his entire life for the service of God Almighty and for the uplift of society, Rio added. N. Theyo, chairman, Nagaland Peace Centre, representative from Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Pastor Hotokhu, president KBPF, Rev. Khrotso Mero, senior pastor, CBCK, Salhoulie, Pastor, Nerhema Baptist Church, Duosielie Chadi, Nerhema Krotho Kohima and several others also spoke at the funeral service and recalled laudable sacrifices and contributions made by late Rev.Dr. Üsou. Meanwhile, Nagaland Governor, Sankaranarayanan sent condolence message to the family of late Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü Üsou. In his message, the Governor offered “deepest condolences” to all family members of Dr. Usou. He also prayed Almighty God to give enough strength and fortitude to the family members to bear the loss.
