Kyong Hoho (KH) has said the ongoing Wokha- Merapani road construction was making a slow progress and the construction made was of “poor workmanship”. KH chairman Yansathung Jami and general secretary Michael Yanthan in a statement addressed to chief engineer stated that though crore of rupees had been drawn for the road construction no acceleration of work were noticed till date. The Hoho while claiming that despite several representations to the government for slow progress of work and execution of work lamented whether government were taking any action or the contractor were not complying with the directives of the government. The statement mentioned that as per decision taken during its executive meeting held on January 17, KH would initiate inspection to construction works and would take necessary step if road construction were found not as per the requirement. Further, KH has cautioned that non-compliance to its repeated request might invite “unnecessary confrontations” among the department, contractors and the Kyong Hoho. The Hoho in a statement has requested chief engineer PWD (R&B) Kohima to expedite the ongoing Wokha- Merapani road construction.
