2,000 Tripura students stranded in Tamil Nadu

As many as 2,000 students of Tripura are facing hardships following sudden closure of all colleges and hostels in Tamil Nadu by the state government and are stranded, as seats and berths in buses and trains were all fully booked in advance. Reportedly, about a 100 students had to return within a week of resumption of classes after a long vacation and many others, who were getting ready for their semester examinations, had to give up their preparations mid-way and leave for their homes. Examinations for MBA, MTech and ME, conducted by Anna University, have been postponed. Similarly, examinations of medical colleges in the state had also been rescheduled, Baban Debnath of Agartala, an engineering student in Chennai, told over the phone. Tamil Nadu government had issued closure notice to all the institutions following the agitation and general strike called by the Sri Lankan Tamil Protection Force.
