Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) in coordination with Naga civil societies from Manipur, Nagaland and Delhi, took to streets shouting slogans for their rights to self-determination and appealing central government to expedite the ongoing Indo-Naga political dialogues for a positive solution.
The protest was organised on February 4 from Jantar Mantar to Parliament street with more than a thousand Nagas shouting slogans for their rights to self-determination.
They had appealed for positive solution from the government instead of playing “such dirty game as the siege of the NSCN camp at Shiroi” that started January 19 to February 2 “causing torturous survival” to NSCN cadres.
Representatives from various Naga and Indian civil societies, like Tangkhul Shanao long (the general secretary Grace Shatsang), the Democratic Students’ Union, the general secretary of Pragatisheel Mahila Sangathan, Delhi ( Poonam) participated and expressed their solidarity to the cause of the Nagas and strongly stated that Nagas had a genuine right to self-determination. Representatives from Shiroi village and coordination committee for the Shiroi Seige, MP Mani Charanamai and representatives of Naga MLAs (from Manipur) also voiced for the rights of the Nagas.
