A two day celebration of 3 Corps 24th Raising Day culminated Thursday at a grand programme at its headquarters in Rangapahar. The 3 Corps was raised on February 4,1985. State Governor, K Sankaranarayanan graced the occasion along with other civil and military dignitaries.
Earlier, the Governor was received by Corps Commander, Lt Gen R.K Loomba AVSM and Maj Gen SS Pawar, the Chief of Staff of HQ 3 Corps.
The Corps, besides ensuring territorial integrity along the International Border with Myanmar and Bangladesh has been conducting counter insurgency operations effectively in the NE states Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and parts of South Assam. The ‘Spear Corps’ in close coordination and co-operation with civil authorities, conducted extensive military - civic activities to enhance the quality of life of the local populace, mostly in rural areas.
The finale of the two day celebrations culminated was marked by cultural and magic shows, dog show by 22 Army dog unit and daring motor cycle display by guinness world record holder, military police motor cycle riders team “Shwet Ashaw”.
