7 held with arms, ammunition

Seven persons, one of them an NSCN-IM activist, were arrested along with arms and ammunition by police from a house at Lotha Colony here at around 9.30 pm Friday night. On receiving information that some armed miscreants were taking shelter in a house at Lotha Colony police raided the house and apprehended seven persons for possessing arms and ammunition Friday night, police said. One M20 pistol with seven live rounds, one 9mm pistol with 4 live rounds, one .32 pistol with five live rounds, three knives, seven cellular phones and one auto rickshaw were recovered from their possession. While three of the arrested were released on PR bond, four have been taken into custody. The four who are in police custody have been identified as NSCN-IM ‘Sgt.’ Amonv Tarao (27), son of Achan Tarao of Leisoching village, Chandel, Manipur, Supin Mandal (26), son of Ram Bhagat Mandal of Muzahafarpur, Bihar residing at Lotha colony, Dimapur; Sujit Saha (28), son of Tulsi Saha, Agartala, Tripura and Mukut Konwar of Hatia, Tinsukia, Assam. The four have been booked under the Arms Act, police added.
