A minor stand-off was averted at Kuhuboto area Saturday between the law enforcement agencies – the CRPF and IRB. Administration sources said the CRPF deployed at the border area had asked the IRB deployed there to vacate the area in order to gain total area dominance. The administration reportedly informed the CRPF that any withdrawal of the IRB had to be made by a state government order. After this point was made, the CRPF apparently chose to await the state government’s next move. Kuhuboto and its adjoining areas was the scene of bloody factional killings last year during April to August. The IRB had been deployed to maintain law and order in the area. The CRPF, a neutral force is being pressed to check movement of armed cadres in the disputed border areas particularly in the light of ongoing operations against Assam militants.
