Road blockade in Kohima called off

The indefinite road blockade imposed by the East Circular Road Development Board beginning 5 pm on Monday was called off in the afternoon after the government assured to complete the road within the time-bound period of April 2009. Responding to the demand of the ECRDB, Minister for Road and Bridges G Kaito Ayeh on Monday agreed to the demand made by the Board to complete it within the time bound period of April 2009. This was assured by the minister in presence of the ECRDB executive members, MLAs Dr Nicky, Er.Vikhou Yhoshü and EE, PWD (R&B), South Division, according to a release issued by ECRDB chairman Moselie Kuotsu and secretary Vilhoubeilie Solo. The ECRDB expressed gratitude to the minister and assured him of their cooperation in all respects. It may be mentioned that the road blockade was called to protest against the government’s apathy and total neglect towards improvement of the road at East Circular Road, Kohima which covers a stretch of 5 kms between Mission Junction/Kitsubozou/ Seikhazou and NH 150/ check post junction near BSF camp.
