Peon held for robbery

Kohima police Monday last apprehended one person in connection with the looting of Rs 1.3 lakh from the Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) office during Christmas and New Year holiday period. Police said the accused identified as one Isaac Konyak of Wangchang village, Mon district confessed to the crime during an investigation in the office premises. Police said the accused broke into the office on December 26 through a ventilator who broke open the Goodrej almirah with the help of a screw driver and looted the cash. Police has recovered Rs.40, 000 from one of his acquaintances residing in Lower Forest Colony, Kohima. During interrogation, the accused also disclosed that he had kept Rs.10, 000 with one owner of a mobile shop, located below Hotel View Point, Old NST which is still to be recovered by the police.
