Alarmed by the high rate of influx of foreigners and non-locals in Wokha district, the Kyong Students’ Union (KSU) has resolved to set December 31, 2004 as “Cut Off” year which to deal with the problem. The decision was taken during its executive meeting held on January 10. KSU has directed all migrants and non-locals who came after December 31, 2004 to leave Wokha district on or before March 1, 2009. All individuals/groups were warned they would be doing so at their own risk if they failed to heed its notice. The KSU also appealed the district administration to immediately stop issuing fresh ILPs except for renewal or temporary labour permits for those who were residing before the “Cut Off” year. KSU has also informed that its Non-Local Registration Card (NLRC) for those who came before the “Cut Off” year would be issued from January 19 to February 19 at its office from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. The non-locals have been directed to report to its office with their ILP, expired NLRC along with two passport size photographs. The Union also informed its entire units to implement the Resolution with utmost sincerity so as to uphold and honour its Constitution. The Union also sought the co-operation of all right thinking Nagas in its “sincere eviction drive”.
