A three day 34th general conference of the Ongpangkong Students' Union (OKM) concluded Friday night at Yimyu ward, Mokokchung, with more than 600 delegates besides invitees. The conference was held on the theme "capacity building".
The closing program was graced by Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao Minister PHED Nagaland as the guest of honor. While delivering his speech, the guest of honor called upon students to have 'vision' and 'wisdom' as they are the future leaders, adding, they must be a dreamer and a visionary.
Touching on the theme of the conference, the minister said efficiency is developed through building capacity. The Minister also said that being considered as the father of Aos, Ongpangkong people have great responsibility.
The concluding program of the conference also saw selection of 'Kongro' & 'Sangpang' (Mister & Miss) Ongpangkong. And the title of 'Kongro' was bagged by Moamenla Longkumer from Aliba village while 'Sangpang' title was bagged by Wapangrenba from Longkhum village.
Meanwhile, the 34th OKM conference also selected a new team of office bearers for the next tenure. The team include president Imtiwapang (Chungtia), vice president Lanuyanger (Mekuli), general secretary Pongenmeren (Longmisa) and assistant general secretary Imsutoshi Longkumer (Meilong).
