Lilen village celebrates post-harvest festival

Lilen village under Peren district celebrated Mimkut- Kut festival on Saturday at local ground Lilen village. Chief guest and guest of honor for the festival were BDO, RD Block Jalukie, Lima Yaden and SO, RD Block Jalukie Vikto Sema. Special highlights of the festival included traditional shawl presentation by Nemneilhing, inspection of traditional traps demonstrated by the villagers, traditional games and cultural dance by four colonies of the village, Kut lam, Sagol Pheikhai, Vakol Lam and Khulkom Lam. Chief guest, Limameren in his speech said "The greatest asset man posses and that differentiates him from all other living beings is culture, the accumulation of traditions that every society posses". Stressing on the importance of culture, he said "Culture is also a main factor in healing the wounds of history so that we can move from being victims to victors and gives us the strength to move on to live with our hopes and dreams instead of with our fears and divisions". "For a society to progress it needs emphasis in education, but education is not just a college degree. Education is incomplete without culture", he added. Guest of honor, Vikto Sema while addressing the gathering appreciated the innovativeness of Lilen villagers in their skilful display of traditional animal traps made of bamboo and wood and also encouraged the villagers to continue to remain positive and uphold their artistic aptitude. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by GB Lilen Thangkhomang Hangsing. vote of thanks proposed by chairman village council Lilen, Lamlun Hangsing and benediction by church elder LCC, Upa Lalseh Hangsing
