The 12th Sumi Catholic convention was held January 15 to 18 at St. Anthony's Church Zunheboto on the theme "To Live in Harmony with One Another" Rom 12:18 with about 600 members from 19 Sumi villages across state taking part in the four-day convention.
The convention which dealt with various topics for prayer, reflection and discussion was attended by Rt. Rev. Jose Mukala the Bishop of Nagaland. Exhorting the congregation on the second day of the convention, Rt. Rev. Jose Mukala said "love of God should become a concrete reality in our lives and communities," a press statement issued by Sr. Otoli Sumi UFS quoted him as saying. He also stressed that Eucharist should become the center of Christian worship.
The Eucharistic procession taken out through Zunheboto town with the Blessed Sacrament was an enriching experience for all the people who had joined for the celebration, release stated.
Presently Sümi community is blessed with one priest and seven religious sisters, whose presence added to the joy of the celebration, release added.
