Handloom Expo to attract Finance Commission

A Special Handloom Expo 2009 aimed at showcasing the rich potentials of the state and also to attract the attention of the visiting 13th Finance Commission was formally inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary for Industries & Commerce, Dr. K. C. Nihoshe, here at the Heritage building Monday. In his inaugural address, Dr. Nihoshe said the expo was organized at a short notice to showcase the handlooms and handicraft products from the state to the visiting officials from the 13th Finance Commission so as to garner some helping hand from the commission in tapping the rich talent in this sector. He also highlighted various plans and programmes of the state government including diversions of Highways from passing through towns, establishing satellite townships and reviving Tuli paper mill and sought the cooperation of the people. Dr. Nihoshe was accompanied by parliamentary secretary for Jail and Prison, Er. W. Kithan. The expo is being organized by the state Industries and Commerce department in honour of the visiting 13th Finance Commission officials and funded by the Union Ministry of Textile. Altogether 30 stalls have been set up at the expo site which would conclude on January 27.
