1 held for extortion in Dimapur

Acting on a tip off, police Wednesday apprehended one person for allegedly extorting money from a shop near clock tower area in the name of Educated Unemployed Union Dimapur Wednesday. Police said, the accused identified as Hukato K. Zhimo (42) son of Khekovi Zhimo, Chekeya village Dimapur was caught red handed while he was collecting money. According to police, the accused had already collected money from various shops at G.S. Road, National Highway 39 and automobile and oil tank shop line, Purana Bazaar. Police also seized 18 documents belonging to Educated Unemployed Union Dimapur and said that there was no such office in Dimapur and the accused not a member. The accused has been forwarded to court, police said. (Staff Reporter)
