ICS trg in Kohima
DIMAPUR: Four-day training on Incident Command System (ICS) would be inaugurated by State Chief Secretary Lalhuma, IAS on February 24 at 10:30 a.m at Administrative Training Institute, Kohima. The training is being organized by Disaster Management Cell, ATI, Nagaland in association with National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi for the first time in the state. The programme would be chaired by Additional Chief Secretary & Home Commissioner, Lalthara, IAS .
Seminar on RTI
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in collaboration with the district administration would organize a sensitization programme on RTI Act, 2005, basing on the theme “Capacity Building for Access to Information” on February 28 at 10 am at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur.
According union secretary for debate and symposium, Kambuiga Dangmei, the union taking into consideration the legal awareness of one’s right and legal procedure, would be ventilating on the topic “Concept, History, Philosophy and Salient features of RTI Act’2005 and “Appeals and Penalties” of RTI Act’2005 for which the resource persons includes DNSU president, Solomon L. Awomi, and K. Nakhro, manager (legal), NIDC, Dimapur. All mass based NGOs in Dimapur have been requested to participate at the seminar.
AAY food grains distribution
DIMAPUR: The AAY food grains for two months for Kohima district and Chiephobozou centers would be issued to the approved beneficiaries from ADS office Godown , Kohima from February 23 to March 2 between 10 am to 2 pm. The assistant director Temsu Jamir, Food and Civil Supplies, Kohima, in a press communiqué issued has directed the village council chairman, secretary to collect their respective quota within the stipulated time.
Youth leadership workshop
DIMAPUR: Yingli Mission Society in partnership with Development of Human Potential (DHP), Imphal, Manipur would be conducting a workshop on youth leadership development at Imliyanger Memorial Centre, (IMC), Notun Bosti, Dimapur on March 5 and 6. DIMAPUR: Dihoma village youth organisation (DYVO) has enforced ban on hunting, collection of firewoods and vegetations within its jurisdictions. Organisation general secretary Vichulie Yano and President Khrielezo Tsükrü .
informed that defaulters would be penalised as per its resolution.
Kma SP informs vehicle users
DIMAPUR: The office of Kohima superintendent of police has requested the public and vehicle users to abide and adhere to the notifications issued by the government in view of the ongoing traffic regulation and enforcement of ban on unauthorized use of beacon lights, designation plates and flag post on vehicles. Kohima SP has informed all vehicle users to produce original vehicle registration papers/ documents when sought for verification.
In this connection, public as per Motor Vehicles Act and Rules has made mandatory for vehicle users to carry original vehicle registration documents and driving license.
Meanwhile, SP office also informed that plying vehicle in public and carrying Photostat copies of the document was not permissible, stating it was liable for prosecution and penalty as envisaged in the law.
ZSUD remembers Rani Gaidinliu
DIMAPUR: Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Delhi (ZSUD) observed the 15th death anniversary of Heipei Rani Gaidinliu on February 17 at North Campus, Delhi University, Delhi.
According to ZSUD president, Soihiamlung Dangmei, IGNOU deputy registrar, Thianbilung Kamei spoke on the occasion on the life and works of Rani Gaidinliu while a paper “Remembering Rani Gaidinliu: A Brief Reflection of the Zeliangrong Naga Movement” was presented by ZSUD advisor, Mathiupuang Gonmei.
Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Delhi also elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2009-2010 with Soihiamlung Dangmei as president, Kamiuthuan Panmei as vice-President,
Kailadbou Daimei as general secretary, Rechilungle Riame as finance secretary and several others under various capacities. Meanwhile, ZSUD has condemned the killings of SDO of Kasom Khullen, Kishan Thingnam and his subordinate. The Union stated that such heinous act was a deliberate attempt to create misunderstandings and tensions between different communities.
ZSUD has also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for departed souls rest in peace.
NH meet deliberates on peace process
DIMAPUR: Naga Hoho had organized a one day consultative meeting with the constituent units and other partners of social and political organizations on February 19, at NEZCC Complex, Dimapur, and deliberated thoroughly on the “current Naga political issues and the role of the Naga civil societies in the present Naga context”.
According to Naga Hoho general secretary P.Chuba Ozukum, the need to reconcile among all Naga armed groups and civil societies and to strengthen ongoing “Indo-Naga” peace process for amicable solution dominated the “extraordinary” one-day discussion. The speakers from various organizations strongly endorsed the leadership of Naga Hoho to organized further consultation on the Naga political process. Further, it was resolved to encourage all Naga tribes/ community to positively participate in the Naga convention on peace and reconciliation meet on February 21 and 22 in Kohima under the aegis of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
WTD silver jubilee

ANTA Mokokchung meet
DIMAPUR: The 6th annual general meeting of All Nagaland Taxi Association, Mokokchung Zone has been convened on February 21 at the residence of Association treasurers from 9 a.m. No Taxis (Tourist Zonal or Local) would not be allowed to ply within Mokokchung Zone during the meeting, failing which a fine of Rs. 500/- would be imposed. Representatives from all the Units under Mokokchung District - Mon, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Longleng have been invited. Further all members have been requested to attend the meeting with their vehicles.
Commercial vehicles notified
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has notified all commercial vehicle owners including truck, mini truck, oil tanker, carrier auto and the like to pay DMC toll tax and entry fee in all the DMC entry gates/toll bars in accordance to the DMC approved rates on entry at municipal jurisdiction. DMC chief executive officer, Nikhashe Sema in a release said that the notice would come into force with immediate effect and would remain until further notice.
KMC bans sale of dog meat
KOHIMA: Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed that it would ban import and sale of dog meat with immediate effect. KMC deputy chairperson, Khriehu Liezietsu in a press release said the decision had been made by the council after butchers had violated and ignored its appeal to sell dog meat at a fixed rate within the jurisdiction of KMC. Further, the council said that even after repeated warning and appeal, the butchers were still selling “at an exorbitant price”.
SCERT informs on registration
DIMAPUR: All registered professionally trained in teaching profession (B.Ed) under SCERT have been informed to report to the office of director of SCERT. Further, all unemployed professionally trained in teaching profession (B.Ed), PSTE, ECCE who had not been registered are informed to get their names registered from the office of SCERT.
KMC emergency meeting
KOHIMA: Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) in view of the LPG shortage and other issues in Kohima has convened an emergency joint meeting on February 27, 11 a.m. at KMC conference hall. All the proprietor/manager of LPG agencies within the jurisdiction of KMC has been informed to attend the meeting.
DSE informs DDOs
DIMAPUR: Directorate of School Education (DSE) has informed all responsible DDOs under the department of school education not to entertain any inter district transfer orders of teachers issued by the DEOs/DISs. A release issued by DSE has also informed that if any DDOs come across such order/orders to immediately send it to the directorate for verification and that no salary should be released until it was verified by the directorate.

KOHIMA: Painters’ Union Kohima District (PUKD) has informed all painters of Kohima district to avail their identity cards by contacting 9856767917, 9856461321 and 9436071948. The union further informed that it has elected a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2009-12 led by Daniel D. Dzeyie as president, Gopal Saha as vice, Seema Babool as general secretary, Mahesh Rai as joint secretary, Vivotsolie Rüpreo as treasurer and Thomas Golmei, Latu and Tilok Sonar as executive members.
DIMAPUR: N/Longidang Village Council has informed that a wooden bridge has been constructed at Doyang river through the initiation of N/Longidang village council Wokha district and Old Shena village council Zunheboto district under NREG scheme 2007-08. The bridge was dedicated on February 19 by pastor N/Longidang Baptist church.
NPF Peren div meet
DIMAPUR: NPF Peren division held a meeting on February 11with all frontal organization of the district at Jalukie town. The central team was advised the party to be intact and to keep regionalism at the forefront. Working president NPF Nagaland Apong Pongener in the meeting stated that the DAN government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio and president NPF Dr. Shürhozelie, development in the state would reign. The division also expressed gratitude to minister T.R Zeliang for the financial support in making the programme a success.
