CM to launch Health Mela at NHA Kohima

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will formally launch the two-day state-wide Health Mela at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) on February 25. The Health Mela is being organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland in all the district hospitals as part of its year plan of activities and as a means to reach out to all sections of the people, especially the poor and needy. Health Melas in the other districts will be held in April. Along with the launching of the first Health Mela in the state for the year 2009, the Chief Minister will also flag off the Delhi National Board (DNB) course, lay the foundation stone of the Oncology Wing of the hospital and inaugurate the new operation theatre complex at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima. Free health check-up and medicines will be provided to those who come to the hospital during the Mela. Physical check-up, especially of eye, ENT, dental etc besides laboratory investigations will also be done. All the out patient departments (OPDs) of the hospital will be open for patients free of cost during the Mela days. Health information dissemination in the form of display of charts/posters, distribution of handouts on all ongoing health programmes, including screening of films and puppet show will be added attractions. Director of Health & Family Welfare Dr Kumuni Kathipri has urged all sections of people, especially those living in and around Kohima and surrounding villages, to avail the services.
