Kohima district horticulture department as a part of ‘Capacity Building’ programme organized one-day training on Citrus rejuvenation February 20 at New Sendenyu Orange Project with Wokha DHO, Dr. R E Lotha as resource person.
The project located 25 Km away from Touphima Jn, NH-39, is renowned for its orange production with about 20 hectares of land under orange plantation and more area expansion under progress, Kohima DHO in a release stated.
Altogether 70 farmers from Phek, Kohima, Zunheboto and Wokha districts participated in the one day training programme.
The participants were imparted with practical field demonstration on preparation of B/mixture and its application, pruning and trimming of micro nutrients and the impact of Neem shield spray.
The farmers were also familiarized with drilling device of Auger Machine for biting of pins size of eight inches diameter and two feet depth and demonstration of weed cutter machine.
Secateurs, chemical and sprayer for rejuvenation of old orchard were distributed to the farmers, the release said.
The programme was chaired by Kohima DHO, Jerry Patton while vote of thanks was delivered by Sendenyu Orange Project chairman.
