Institute of Development and Leadership (IDL) was formally inaugurated by Fondazione Fratelli Dimenticati Onlus (Foundation of Forgotten Brothers) president, Claudio Bolla SDB, Februrary 24, at Don Bosco school campus, Dimapur. Addressing the function, Claudio Bolla, expressed that he was happy to be part of the organization, adding that his organization would collaborate in whatever way it could. Calling upon the organization he expressed hoped that the new centre would be a centre of formation in human values, education in rights and privileges and development of the people of the North East, Bosco Communications in a press release stated. Delivering speech AIDA director, Fr. Tony Pellissery informed that so far AIDA had been involved at the grass root level empowerment of the society, having almost 1000 SHGs, and catering to almost 12 thousand villagers on a monthly basis, the release said. It has over three thousand leaders who are trained in conflict management, primary health care, etc. There are 80 community based trainers, 100 health workers, 60 community school teachers and the training covers almost two to three thousand leaders yearly. The organization has 40 members on the staff, five hundred leaders and over twelve thousand men and women under its umbrella. He described the centre as another dimension to its work in the process of influencing policies and moulding and shaping development actors. He also highlighted the fact of the increase in the educated unemployed annually, and said that this centre would focus on employment education to people, such as Masters in Social Works. Vice Provincial, Fr. Nestor Guria lauded the foundation for the collaboration and pointed to the fact that North East India needs Leaders and Development. The mission of Don Bosco was to form good Christians and honest citizens, and this centre is a step towards realization of that mission, he added. It may be noted that Fondazione Fratelli Dimenticati Onlus was founded by Fr. Alessi Antonio, SDB, in Italy, with an aim to help the less privileged brothers and sisters in Italy as well as in other parts of the world. The organization focuses on development works, education, assistance in terms of scholarships and the like.
