As part of government‘s ‘year of capacity building’ 2008-09 programme, a twenty member team including three females led by its team leader, Neilalhoulie, Youth Resources Officer, Phek, have left for Chennai Thursday evening to participate at the 10 day refresher course on ‘youth empowerment’ for district youth resources officers and leaders starting March 2 to 9 at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Shree Perumbedum, Chennai.
Interacting with media person before their departure from Dimapur, state liaison officer, youth resources and sports, L. Kenneth, said the team comprising of officers from its department, Churches, youth leaders and other allied organization would be trained on different issues including youth empowerment, career counseling, gender studies, local self help governance and life skill education at the 10 day training.
Also highlighting about the concept of the course, Kenneth said it was mainly focused on changing society-a channel of change when they return from the training.
He also said that the trainees would make an impact on Naga society especially the youths after their course and further thanked the DAN government for initiating the programme that could gain the Naga society’s future prospects by way of shouldering, imparting and disseminating the responsibilities by youths.
