Assam lifts inaugural NE T20 Cup

Assam beat Nagaland by 5 wickets in the 1st North East Twenty20 Cricket Tournament here on Saturday at JN Complex, Polo ground, Shillong. Electing to bat, Nagaland managed just 85 runs for the loss of eight wickets, with IPL player Hokaito Zhimomi being the highest scorer with 49 runs. Krishna Das was the most successful bowler for Assam, picking three for 16 runs. In reply, Assam achieved the target in just 16.5 overs, losing 5 wickets. Sib Sankar Roy scored 30 runs from 45 balls while Pritam Debnath scored 13 runs from 15 balls. Aosashi took 2 wickets for 16 runs from 4 overs. The Winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1,50,000 and the runner up got Rs.75,000. The Man of the Match went to Krishna Das (Assam) for getting 3 wickets in the match. He also pocketed Rs.5000, The man of the tournament went to Hokaito Zhimoni (Nagaland) and took away Rs.10,000 as a cash award. The chief guest P.A Sangma praised Nagaland team fro their efforts in the tournament and for reaching the finals of the tournament. Meanwhile A.Rahman, convenor cricket development committee of NCA in a press release thanked the cricket fan of Nagaland, the Naga student union, Shillong, MCA, the umpires from cricket association of Bengal, NCA, DDCA and officials for their support and prayers. Nagaland Team will be reaching Dimapur Railway station by 5 pm by special passenger train from Guwahati.
