Following the decision of the CLP not to attend the Naga Consultative Meet scheduled for March 5 to 7, the Political Affairs Committee of DAN has renewed its “humble appeal” to the state Congress leaders to reconsider their decision not to participate in the forthcoming Naga consultative meet, “ in the greater interest of the common Naga cause”. Chairman, PAC of DAN, Dr TM Lotha in an appeal to the Congress leaders Saturday urged the party to attend the meet and share their views and suggestions so as to reason together in determining the “desired shape” in finding an amicable solution to the common issue. Dr Lotha in his appeal, said the participation of all the Naga leaders including the Congress leaders of Nagaland at the proposed “Naga Consultative Meet” was “extremely important at this hour of critically transitional period”. He explained that the meeting was the outcome of the PAC’s meetings and interactions with various sections of Naga society. Dr Lotha said the meeting was called to deliberate and discuss the common cause on Naga political issue so as to evolve a “consensus opinion” on the complex matter. He said all Naga leaders irrespective of political affiliations, tribal inclinations and other regional interests were expected to arrive at a wide consensus so as to help the Naga people march forward “at this critical juncture without being further ruined. When contacted CLP leader Chingwang Konyak told Nagaland Post, that the party’s stand remained unchanged. He said his party decided to stay away from the meet because the DAN’s PAC did not even have the courtesy to invite the opposition to the preliminary discussions held to chalk out the agenda for the meeting. Expecting the Congress to attend the meet now was belittling the party as well as being tantamount to issuing a dictat, he added. Representatives from all tribal hohos, civil societies, NGOs like NCF, NBCC, Naga Hoho, NSF, ENSF, ENPO, NMA, NPMHR, UNC, GBs and DBs and Naga Reconciliation Forum besides representatives from various factions of Naga National workers and Naga overseas friends especially from the USA, England and Australia are expected to attend the meeting.
