Terming the Lok Sabha elections as a “prestige issue” for BSP, its supremo and chief minister Mayawati on Monday asked partymen to stay united and help the party garner maximum seats especially in Uttar Pradesh to take a shot at Government formation at the Centre. “If we make concerted efforts, our slogan ‘UP hui hamari hai, ab Delhi ki bari hai’ (UP is ours, now it is the turn of Delhi), will turn into a reality,” said Mayawati, who cherishes prime ministerial ambitions while sounding the poll bugle. “For BSP, the Lok Sabha election is a prestige issue. We must ensure that the party wins maximum seats, especially in Uttar Pradesh, so as to achieve our target of forming a government at the Centre,” she said at a BSP national convention here while appealing to her partymen to shed their differences. Claiming that other parties were rattled with the “expanding base” of the BSP, Mayawati cautioned the workers to be cautious about small caste and religion-based parties who have the potential to split votes.
